John Nielsen didn't grow up dreaming about politics...

John grew up in a small town in Wisconsin, the son of union workers, learning that nothing should go to waste and no one should be left behind. At 19, he joined the Army and became a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. When injury ended his military career, he packed everything he owned into a pickup and drove west to start over in Oregon.

Today, John is a husband, father of five, local business leader, and Redmond City Councilor. He’s spent two decades helping families become home owners, small businesses grow, and neighbors weather hard times. On Council, he’s focused on making real progress on housing, jobs, and infrastructure.

John is running for Deschutes County Commission - Position 5 to bring that same common-sense, get-it-done leadership to Deschutes County.

Redmond deserves a voice on the commission. I’ve worked with John in Salem and he gets stuff done - whether it’s housing or the safety of our roads - John cares about Redmond, not politics and I know he will do the same for the county.

- State Representative Emerson Levy
